Abstract

The article provides a theoretical and methodological substantiation of the conceptual architecture for ensuring the sustainable development of agricultural entrepreneurship at the microeconomic level. Sustainable development is distinguished as a long-term trajectory of qualitative change, while sustainability is defined as the systemic capacity to reproduce the critical prerequisites for continued functioning. This capacity is examined through the interrelationship between economic, social and environmental outcomes, the natural and biological preconditions of production, territorial context, and adaptability to disturbances. Determinants, conditions, factors, resources, instruments and outcomes are functionally distinguished, making it possible to separate the causes shaping a development trajectory from the means of managerial influence on it. The proposed causal model reflects a sequence in which fundamental determinants and framework conditions define the space of possible trajectories, external factor impulses alter operating parameters, internal resource positions and capabilities modify sensitivity, and business and strategic decisions generate economic, social and environmental outcomes. Their accumulation over time either reproduces or weakens the prerequisites for further development. The institutional environment is interpreted as a cross-cutting modifier of causal relationships through rights-defining, enforcement, coordination, incentive-correcting, informational, risk-allocation and adaptive-transformational functions. Under the conditions of war, reconstruction and European integration, the effectiveness of institutional transformation in Ukraine is associated not with the number of formally introduced rules, but with their enforceability, complementarity, administrative capacity, and the relationship between long-term reductions in uncertainty and short-term transition costs. The scientific novelty lies in integrating the substantive, causal and institutional levels into a single architecture that provides a basis for operationalization through the sequence “properties – criteria – indicators” and for substantiating interventions aimed at controllable and partially controllable links shaping the development trajectory.
