DIGITAL DIVIDES IN INDUSTRY AND THE ABILITY OF UKRAINIAN BUSINESS TO OVERCOME THEM

Abstract

The relevance of the research lies in the study of the processes of digitalization of industrial production and enterprises, the availability of technologies and the Internet, and the study of differences in the quality, skills, and capabilities of using digital technologies. The purpose of the article is to identify key digital gaps that hinder the implementation of transformational changes in the development of the industrial sector, to investigate the domestic practice of using indicators for measuring digitalization processes in industry, to assess the organizational capacity of business for digital transformations, and to substantiate tools for overcoming digital gaps. The article proposes to supplement the analysis of statistical data on the use of information and communication technologies in industry with the results of published secondary surveys of heads of real sector enterprises, which allows us to draw conclusions about the needs of Ukrainian business on the path to overcoming digital gaps. Separate indicators are analyzed that characterize both the general state of the current development of the country's digital transformation, and specific indicators that domestic statistics use to characterize digitalization in industrial sectors. The main emphasis is on the importance of minimizing the identified gaps and inequalities in the processes of digital transformation, including industry. The strengths of industrial production are noted in terms of Internet accessibility, the use of fixed Internet access, and the application of security measures using ICT. The results show shortcomings in the organizational support of the digital transformation of industry. The conclusions emphasize the need for coordinated interaction in the implementation of digital and industrial policies at the state, regional and local levels, coordination, cooperation and collaboration, and establishing a dialogue with stakeholders.
